Why did you decide to join SRSC?
I joined SRSC after several months of encouragement from Rob. I had been talking about the need to get back into a workout routine but kept convincing myself that I was not “in good enough shape” to join a gym, especially a crossfit gym. After seeing the results Rob was achieving and hearing him talk about how great the community was I knew I owed it to myself to schedule a consultation. I committed to an entire year during my consultation and haven’t looked back since. I can’t even imagine working out somewhere else.
What has been your most memorable achievement since becoming a member?
My most memorable achievement is how far I have come with my burpees. I know it’s a workout that most people dread but I was always jealous of people who could do them and do them well. I could barely do one burpee when I first joined and now I’m not even phased when I see them programmed into my workouts.
Favorite and least favorite exercises?
My favorite exercise is anything involving a squat. My least favorite exercise is running. Now that I’ve overcome my fear of burpees it’s time for me to attack running.
What’s something that your gym mates would be surprised to know about you?
I guess most people would be surprised to know that I was an archaeologist before I entered the wine industry. All of this training in functional fitness would have come in handy out in the field when I was excavating human remains!
Current goal(s) in the gym or in life?
My current goal is to participate in a Friday Night Throwdown and be able to complete the workout as prescribed, without any modifications.
